Rooms

Inside the house

Every room starts with the same repairs and the same care for what's in it.

A bedroom with a made bed under a bay window and warm walls

Bedrooms and closets

Walls, ceiling, closet and trim, with soft colors and a finish that doesn't glare.

  • Closets emptied by us, and refilled

  • Doors and frames done last, so they don't stick

A dining room with a wooden table, a window and paneled walls

Kitchens and dining rooms

A washable finish on the walls, and trim that can take a damp cloth.

  • Grease cleaned off before any paint

  • Cabinet fronts painted only if you ask

A living room with two blue armchairs on a patterned rug

Living rooms and halls

Lighter walls and clear edges at doors and corners, so the way through is easy to see.

  • A darker trim color where it helps the eye

  • Switch plates and vents taken off and put back

A gloved hand holding a paint roller against a pale wall

Bathrooms and trim

Moisture-resistant paint on walls and ceiling, and a hard finish on doors and trim.

  • Mildew cleaned off, not painted over

  • Caulk renewed around tubs and sinks

Before the paint

What we do in every room first

Prep is most of the work, and it's the part that lasts.

  • Furniture and floors

Moved, covered, and photographed so it goes back as it was.

  • Cracks and holes

    Filled, sanded smooth, and spot-primed.

  • Walls cleaned

Dust, grease and fingerprints off, so the paint holds.

  • Trim taped

    Straight edges, taped by hand.

  • Windows opened

Fresh air in while we paint and after we finish.

  • A chair for you

Set up away from the work, if you want to watch.

About the rooms

How long does a room take?

Most bedrooms take one to two days and most living rooms two to three. Your plan lists the days. If something takes longer we call you before we go on.

Which paint do you use, and who buys it?

We buy premium paint. You can ask which one, and for the data sheet, before the day starts. Matte for bedrooms, a washable finish for kitchens and halls, a harder one for trim.

What is on the written plan?

Which rooms, the repairs, the number of coats, the paint and sheen, the colors, cleanup, the dates, what it costs and how payment works. We can print it in large type.

Start with the one room that's bothering you.

Tell us which, and when you'd like us. We'll come, look, and write it down.
