Painting for lived-in homes in Asheville, NC

A quiet refresh, on a schedule you set.

One room at a time, by the same small crew, with a phone call before every visit. You choose the pace, and nobody calls to push you.

  • A call the day before each visit
  • One written plan before any paint
  • The same crew each time
A wide front porch with white rails and green rocking chairs looking out to trees

No pressure

We ask once, then we wait for you.

A refresh starts when you're ready, not when we have an opening. You get one written plan, a phone call to go over it, and all the time you need.

  • One written plan, in large type if you ask

  • A phone call the day before every visit, from a person

  • Furniture put back where it was, with a photo to check

  • You can pause between visits, any time

How it goes

From first call to a finished room

Four steps, and you can stop after any of them.

  • 01

    You call or text

Ngozi answers, Monday to Friday. Tell her which rooms, and whether the plan is for you or for a parent you're helping.

  • 02

    Leila comes to look

She walks the rooms with you, checks the walls and trim, and writes the plan. It comes to you on paper, in large type if you like.

  • 03

    You pick the dates

We offer a few weekdays. Nothing is booked until you say yes, and we call the day before each visit.

  • 04

    One room at a time

Two of us, the same two each visit, start at nine. The room is put back, and aired out, before we go.

Plans

Three ways to keep the house fresh

Choose one visit, or let us come back on a calendar. Every plan is written down before it starts, and you can stop between visits.

  • One room, one visit

One day for one room, when you're ready for it.

    • Walls, ceiling and trim in one room
    • Cracks and nail holes filled first
    • Furniture moved and put back
    • A call the day before
  • A room a season

    A good place to start

Four visits a year, one room each, on weekdays you choose ahead.

    • One room each season, in the order you pick
    • A dated calendar sent at the start of the year
    • A call the day before every visit
    • Touch-ups to our earlier work at each visit
  • Spring look-around

One visit each spring to see what the year has worn.

    • A walk through every room and the porch
    • Touch-ups to paint we've done
    • A written list of what to do next
    • No obligation to book anything on it

Plans are scheduled painting visits. They are not insurance, not a warranty and not a maintenance contract on your house. Your written plan states the price of each visit and of the year, what is included and what isn't, and how to stop: tell us by phone or text before the next visit, and nothing more is owed for visits that haven't happened.

Rooms

Rooms we refresh most

Walls, ceilings, trim and doors, with the small repairs done first.

  • A calm grey-walled bedroom with a made bed and a window

    Bedrooms

Soft colors that are easy on the eyes, with the closet, the trim and the door done too.

  • A bright white kitchen and a round dining table by a window

    Kitchens and dining rooms

A finish you can wipe where hands, plates and pots go, and trim that gets cleaned.

  • A light living room with a white sofa, a plant and framed prints

    Living rooms

Lighter walls bounce more daylight around the room, which helps when eyes need it.

  • A sunny corner with plants and a red bench against a pale wall

    Sunny corners

The reading chair by the window, the plant shelf, the hall nook: small spaces, finished well.

  • A white bedroom with a window and a neatly made bed

    Guest rooms

Ready for the family who visit, finished in a few days and aired out before they arrive.

  • A front door painted red between white columns on a blue house

    Front doors and porches

The first thing that greets you, and the railing you hold when the steps are wet.

From homes we've refreshed

“My mother wanted the hall done, but not with strangers all over the house. The same two painters came each Tuesday, and Ngozi phoned every Monday afternoon.”

Aisha B.West Asheville, her mother's hall and bedroom

“We chose one room a season. The kitchen came last. Nobody asked me to decide anything quickly, and everything was back where I keep it.”

Manfred K.Montreat, a room a season

“I live in Charlotte. I called, agreed the plan and paid from my phone, and I got a photo of each room when it was done. My father only had to unlock the door.”

Questions

Before you call

Will anyone push me to decide?

No. You get one written plan, a phone call to go over it, and then we wait. If you haven't called back in a few weeks we send one short note, and after that it's up to you.

Can my daughter or son set it up from another city?

Yes. Family can call, text, agree the plan and pay from anywhere. We still confirm each visit with you by phone, and we send a photo of every finished room.

Do I have to be home, and will it smell?

You can be home or out. We finish one room before the next and keep the rest of the house closed off. We open the windows and run a fan, and the paint's data sheet is yours to read: just ask for it.

Who moves the furniture?

We do. We move it, cover it, and put it back where it was. Callum takes a photo before we start, so nothing ends up in the wrong place.

My house was built before 1978. Does that change anything?

Homes built before 1978 may have lead in old paint. The EPA's rule for renovation, repair and painting covers paid work that disturbs paint in these homes, and the firm doing it has to be EPA certified for that work. Tell us the year when you call. If your home is covered, we close off the room with plastic, never dry-sand or burn paint, clean up with a HEPA vacuum, and hand you the EPA's lead pamphlet before we start. Our firm number is in the footer.

How do plans work, and how do I stop one?

A plan is a calendar of visits. You can stop between visits by phone or text, and nothing more is owed for visits that haven't happened. Plans aren't insurance or a warranty.

Ask about a refresh

Tell us who the plan is for

Call or text if you like. If you'd rather write, tell us about the house and how soon, or how slowly, you'd like to go.
